Worship Leader

I’ve led worship and have been involved in worship teams since 1989. I started out on keyboard leading with a friend of mine right out of college in my home town, Erie, PA. This is before I really knew what being a worship leader was. We led at different retreats and events together on our own and then blended with another band to help them with worship at a Youth for Christ event in 1991. We all ended up becoming the band, Ascent. We did some originals but mostly covers, but every concert ended with a set of worship. I cut my teeth as a worship leader on Vineyard worship songs even though there were no Vineyard churches in my area. I didn’t know there was such a thing.

After moving to the Atlanta area in 1993, however, I found myself in a Vineyard church which became a phenomenal training ground. I was in the Vineyard for 16 years and had the opportunity of being mentored by some amazing worship leaders. I played keys on the worship team, but made a switch to guitar in 1997 when asked to lead worship in a home group. Guitars are much more portable so I got one and taught myself how to play. I quickly found it was the instrument I was born for.  I continued to grow as both a worship leader and musician, taking professional level lessons for 3 years and traveling with a Chicago based group called, “Mosaic.” from 2001-2004.

I also had the privilege of being part of the Southeast Regional Vineyard Worship Leader Task Force for 3 years where I was involved in resourcing, connecting and equipping worship leaders. In 2010, I invested in more formal worship training through WorshipTraining.com, a phenomenal resource for worship leaders. Check it out.

I continue to lead worship on a regular basis through the ministry of Simply-Worship, and monthly nights of worship and small groups at my church.
